All the things our folks told us about life not being easy, not being fair...they were right...sort of.  Some things aren't easy, and many aren't fair.  But quite often I'm compelled to think that it simply doesn't have to be this way. 

We can be better than this.  No one is going to live forever, and we keep breeding.  The sooner we figure out that looking out for our own is looking out for us all, the better.  And that means - especially in the so-called developed world - we have a lot of re-thinking to do.

I believe activism is something we can engage in every day, no matter where we live or who we are.  I believe activism manifests differently depending on our life circumstances, but has the same ultimate objective:  a cleaner, fairer, better world for ourselves and our descendents.  And I believe living a consciously active lifestyle makes things better not just for others, but for ourselves as well.
